Processes Match Current Needs
One of the objectives of scaling a company is to consistently reduce as a percentage of sales the expense associated with sales, general and administrative expenses. This is also known as leveraged growth. To do this it requires standardized processes and then they can be automated.
Growing companies often mature past the processes that had delivered success at a smaller size. A review of processes often reveals the need for change. An indicator that processes need updating is when the team or you must intervene to satisfy customer requirements. Anytime an intervention is needed means an update is needed. Another indicator is soft, but real. Are you uncomfortable that you and your company are on top of the business? Changes first need to be effective, then work on efficiency. Good processes are required for growth and allow you to work on your business instead of working in your business. Good processes can be systematized through technology. This enables the company to scale up without growing the staff in a linear fashion.
